14 EXT. PROFESSOR’S HOUSE - DUSK THE PROFESSOR’S HOUSE looms through the trees. The children stare up from the rattling buggy.
MRS. MACREADY (O.S.)
MRS. MACREADY (O.S.) Mrs. Macready leads the children up a grand staircase.
MRS. MACREADY (cont’d) Susan reaches out to touch a porcelain bust.
MRS. MACREADY (cont’d) They stop by a CLOSED DOOR. Light flickers behind it.
MRS. MACREADY (cont’d) Peter, Susan, and Edmund follow Mrs. Macready down the hall. Lucy lingers behind. Suddenly, A SHADOW MOVES UNDER THE DOOR. Lucy dashes away.
RADIO ANNOUNCER Susan turns the radio off. Peter spins, annoyed. She nods toward Lucy. Lucy huddles under the blankets, clearly upset by the news.
LUCY Peter and Susan share a knowing look.
SUSAN
EDMUND (O.S.) Edmund stands in the doorway, holding a toothbrush.
SUSAN
EDMUND
PETER Lucy’s lip quivers. Peter glares at Edmund then turns to Lucy.
PETER (cont’d) Susan forces a tight smile. Edmund just stares at the floor.
PETER (cont’d)
SUSAN (O.S.) Susan stands at a table before a HUGE DICTIONARY.
SUSAN (cont’d) Peter slumps in a chair, incredibly bored.
PETER
SUSAN Edmund’s legs stick out from under the coffee table.
EDMUND Susan shuts the dictionary with a thump. Lucy turns from the window.
LUCY
PETER Edmund laughs. Susan scowls at both of them.
LUCY Peter looks tiredly into her pleading face. He sighs.
PETER
EDMUND They all run for cover while Peter counts.
PETER (O.S.) Lucy jumps behind a potted fern, but she shows right through.
PETER (O.S.) (cont’d) She yanks back a velvet curtain to find...Edmund.
EDMUND
PETER (O.S.) (cont’d) Lucy makes a face at Edmund and runs frantically away. She runs around the maze-like hall to a CLOSED DOOR.
PETER (O.S.) (cont’d) Lucy throws open the door and runs in.
