- Was a boxer in his early years, and had been the Youth Heavyweight Champion of Ireland for three consecutive years by the time he was sixteen.

- In 1997, he ranked #69 in Empire (UK) magazine's "The Top 100 Movie Stars of All Time" list.
- Auditioned for the role of Fezzic in The Princess Bride. Liam has said that was one of the most embarrassing moments of his acting career because he said director Rob Reiner had a look of disgust on his face when he realized that Neeson was "only" 6' 4".
